There's an Angel in my Pocket.....

This is a record well and truly deserving of being one of the top Hi-NRG singles of all time. One 2 One are magnificent.....and this will prove it to you!

What a night.....

It's about time I started posting some music again after being distracted with other things. This here is one of the greatest Disconet remixes. This tune is rarely found on the internet so this should be a real treat for any Hi-NRG fanatics.

A lesser known artist....SHARI

This single was a complete surprise to me at the time I discovered it. I had a pile of unknown new releases and was sampling them on the turntables. I remember breezing through most of them until I got to this one and left it play all the way through. I was blown away by the slick production and arrangement and just HAD to get it right there and then.
"STOP...IF YOU WANT MY LOVIN'...GIVE ME A LITTLE LOVE REACTION"

KEN LASZLO....

Ken Laszlo, one of the original ITALO "GREATS" cranked out a ton of hits back in the early to mid 80's (and beyond). Most memorable would probably be HEY HEY GUY or TONIGHT, but my favorite was this Twelve inch "DON'T CRY".
"DON'T CRY - KEN LASZLO"....

I've included a magnificent REMIX here also...it was quite RARE so it's worth a listen!

High energy Magic from "POWER RECORDS"...

Caren Cole had a Hi-NRG hit with this single "I NEED A LOVER TONIGHT". It was released on the very well known POWER label and I can't recall a single record that didn't like that was pressed on that particular label.

More MEGATONE Magic...

Could never go wrong with these Megatone releases. Just one glance on the shelves at the sight of a MEGATONE label and it was "Grab Time"!! This one's an old favorite by Jeanie Tracy called "TIME BOMB".

Back to the EURO records!...

The group MOZZART had a couple of huge hits on the EURO scene. One was the very successful "MONEY" and the other being this one "JASMIN CHINA GIRL" not to be confused with the spelling of the word Jasmine (with an E). I personally liked this single better than "Money" and I include a remix here that has a little bit more of a Hi-NRG vibe to it.

The "SEDUCER" Medleys...

From what I know, this record label also released some mixes by MADONNA as well as MICHAEL JACKSON during the early 90's. Not a lot can be found about the company or if at all it was LEGIT!

More of the PRINCE bootlegs!

These records were discovered by chance. They were never an intentional search or purposeful hunt, but rather a piece of treasure in amongst a shabby disorganized mess of records left in a pile by other DJ's that used to spend their time listening the picks of the day. There were occasions when "Special" releases or "Specially put aside" records were accidentally mixed up with regular singles and if you were quick enough to GRAB, then it was to be your lucky day! I have not seen another record like this one with this same particular medley on it and I have been unable to identify what it could have been bootlegged from. Regardless, it's one of the very best I have heard.

Prince...Bootlegged Medleys!

Everyone loves a PRINCE MIX! You probably couldn't count how many have been made over the years. The few that I'm sharing here have originally been on a legitimate REMIX service at some stage, but later repressed and more than likely renamed so the information about them tends to be hard to trace. The one simply titled MEGAMEDLEY is a bootleg of an original HOT TRACKS from 1984. It's one of the better Prince medleys, in that it was made when my favorite early 80's Prince songs were having their day in the sun.

One CRAZY remix...

This one surfaced in September of 1987. It's basically a really long remixed version of "Situation" by "Yazoo" though it's no ordinary remix. Titled the "Re-Situated" mix, this one has hundreds of little samples from all over the place, many are quite unexpected but work beautifully to make this version a delight to listen to. For fans of the REMIX here because it really is one crazy mix.
"RE-SITUATED"...AND RIPPED APART...AND TOTALLY JUMBLED!

Crashin' Down....

This is one of those singles that ends up on many people's 'Favorite' lists when it comes to 80's Hi-NRG songs. It was a bit of a "one hit wonder" like many were at the time, and little information can be found regarding LEGEAR only that the single originated in the U.K was hugely successful on the club scene. It also remains to be one of those songs that nobody can quite work out the correct lyrics to...Heck, I still can't!
"CRASHIN' DOWN..DOWN..DOWN.....LIKE A STONE TO THE GROUND???" (MAYBE)
Anyone who knows the correct lyrics to this song please let me know in the comments, I'd really appreciate it.

It's a DISCONET MEDLEY!...

Time for another mix, this one's called the 1988 Turbo Megamix. You will find many well known and recognizable Hi-NRG tunes on this one. The track list is largely commercial and features some of the songs that were charting quite successfully at the time, among other bits 'n' pieces thrown in to jumble it up a bit.

Paul Lekakis....

We all know Paul Lekakis from "BOOM BOOM" fame, but in late 1989 he released a single called "You blow me away". It's a track mixed by Shep Pettibone and almost borders on HOUSE music, though still retains its Hi-NRG vibe. It's a simple little song with some happy fun lyrics. Download and play up loud to brighten up your day!
"YOU BLOW ME AWAY...NIGHT AFTER NIGHT...DAY AFTER DAY"...

I uploaded my CD copy so you don't have to put up with crackles! :)

Disco Tracks from 1985...

I am a MEDLEY fanatic, I couldn't help collecting any and every medley that I could get my hands on over the years. This record was one of the first medleys I ever bought from Central Station Records, and it's a "Corker" of a mix. This is just one CRAZY MIXED UP MEDLEY. You wont hear any song longer than a few seconds...it really is that kind of mix, and it's just the way I like 'em!!

Little Baby....

Divine was probably best known for the lyrics "You think you're a man, but you're only a boy" similarly, and for the benefit of the uninitiated, "You pretend to be a lady, but you're just a little baby" was another line made popular among Divine fans back in 1987 with the release of the song "Little Baby". This particular song had a completely different feel to it, thanks to a different arrangement and style to previous singles, influenced by producer at the time Bruce Woolley, who had worked with Dusty Springfield and Co-wrote the song "Video killed the radio star" back in the 70's!
"YOU PRETEND TO BE A LADY...BUT YOU'RE JUST A LITTLE BABY"...

I DON'T WANNA TALK ABOUT THE WEATHER....

1986 was a brilliant year for Hi-NRG records, in particular "MEGATONE" releases. Joan Faulkner stormed the scene with a fantastic energetic and might I add "radio friendly" song titled "I don't wanna talk about the weather". Sadly, it was to be a 'one hit' wonder, though she had a brief comeback in 1991 and again in 1993 but "Meh"! it was garbage. Good on her for trying though, that's the spirit! These were the kind of records that I would gladly fork over Central Station's standard price of around fifteen dollars for. With all due credit, Joan Faulkner remains active and still performs to this day, though her style of music has matured as she has herself, and she sings beautifully.
"I DON'T WANNA TALK ABOUT THE WEATHER"

Here is a performance of her singing "Together" just a year ago, she reminds me a little bit of Randy Crawford.

the 1987 Flashback medley.....

Ultimix were the premium remix service available throughout the 80's. The songs were well mixed, the vinyl had good pressings with visible break marks, and the majority of the medleys were second to none. Ultimix are still going strong, though most of the current mixes lack a lot of the imagination and originality that the older remixes were famous for. Nonetheless, good on them for still being around in this climate of "internet home made mixes" I am surprised the company hasn't drowned in it all and become profitless because of it. This is a favorite of mine. It's taken from what was a "Pack" of vinyls that was released containing the "Best of" Ultimix. Thankfully the medley wasn't altered in any way like often happens when mixes are re-released.

"Whisper to a scream" THE REMIX !

Whisper to a scream was found remixed on a handful of B-sides as well as the album "Best of Bobby O", but it was also released independently as a remixed version 12inch with the same mix on side A as well as side B. It was also pressed on green vinyl and reportedly yellow! I had a green one but some lousy arsehole stole it a while back. The remixes on the colored vinyl had a guitar solo and a longer middle break, strangely, the other plain black vinyl pressings were slightly different. Here is the REMIX.

I'M SO HOT FOR YOU....

Bobby Orlando flooded the dance scene back in the early 80's with what is now recognized as a familiar deep synth and bass tones that have become "trademark" to just about everything he produces, even to the present day. For those that don't know, he produced two albums last year and a further new single is due out late September of this year. Upon listening you would be hard pressed to pick the difference between the brand new singles and the music he created over twenty years ago. Many fans of his music would be in agreement that that isn't a bad thing. Why fix something that isn't broken? Here is where it all started, a single that became one of his biggest hits on the club scene.
